BIOGRAPHY

Aurora Rubio Mifsud is Doctor of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (PhD) at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), for the thesis “La pintura mural gòtica lineal a territori valencià. Statu quo del corpus conegut. Estudi i anàlisi per a la seva conservació” (2015).

She’s restorer of works of art and has 18 years of professional experience. During this perio, her professional activity has centred on the restoration of mural painting, both in public –Institut Valencià de Conservació i Restauració de Béns Culturals (Ivc +r), Fundació de la Comunitat Valenciana La Llum de les Imatges, Universitat Politècnica de València–, or private institutions.

She has worked as a teacher and researcher in several institutions: the Conservation and Restoration Department (UPV), Institut Universitari de Restauració del Patrimoni (IRP) and in the Ivc+r. She enjoyed a Leonardo’s scholarship in Urbino and carried out professional training (MIT, Management International Training) at the University of Ancona.

In addition, she has been involved in several I+D+I projects as “Action cost G7. Artworks conservation by Laser”, a Project of the European Commision Research Directorate, as a member of the Management Commiteé, and a project focused in the restoration of the wall paintings of Saint Nicholas’ church in Valencia, headed by the UPV. Furthermore, she has participated in cooperation agreement as “Learning of the traditional technique of adobe in Berber villages, applied to the conservation and restoration of Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou “, developed by the Valencian Government.

She has presented various papers and posters about the treatment of artistic material in seminars and international meetings. She has also published several articles in academic books and prestigious journals.
